BELLY DANCE @ Rendezvous
Belly Dance with Maya Taahira
On Mondays...BELLYDANCE is at Rendezvous. Maya Taahira has been a student of Middle Eastern dance since 1998, a performer throughout the United States and Germany since 1999, and a teacher since 2002. She has studied with many exceptional pioneers in her field, including Elizabeth Artemis Mourat, Saqra Raybuck, Delilah Flynn, and Suhaila Salimpour.
Maya has taught hundreds of students in varying locations throughout the Washington D.C. area. After the birth of her children, she developed a unique niche in the Middle Eastern Dance community by teaching pre- and post- natal belly dance classes and workshops at the Hot Mama Fitness Studio in Bethesda, MD, which were subsequently featured in articles in the Washington Post and Bethesda Gazette.
Currently, Maya serves as the Artistic Director of the Triple Goddess Tribal Belly Dance Troupe and is hard at work on a series of young adult fiction novels about belly dancers and drum circles.
